What is MRSA and why are the Health Authorities So Concerned?
As mentioned earlier, MRSA, or methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, is a mutated form of the well-known pathogen Staphylococcus aureus (also known as staph). It lives on the skin of most people, but in its mutated state it can cause deaths in humans within a matter of days if it works its way into the blood stream througha monor scratch or scrape the skin or an open sore, wound,cut or boil.Staph was once easily treated with penicillin, but the organism is now completely resistant. Even the the more powerful prescription antibiotic drug, methicillin, barely touches this deadly superbug. Over the past several years, MRSA infections have become increasingly common in hospitals where it now accounts for over 60% of all staph infections. MRSA is now spreading into the general public as well, infecting children in nurseries,schools and daycare centers. It has spread to adults in busy offices as well in gymnasiums, sport centers, public swimming pools, and where large groups of people congregate. A University of Wisconsin study reveals that grape juice reduces the risk of blood clots and boosts cardiac health, says a recent article in The New York Times.

"By now the cardiovascular benefits of a daily glass of wine are well known. But many teetotalers wonder whether they can reap the same rewards from wine's unfermented sibling, or are they simply left out altogether.

"...But the substances believed to provide much of red wine's heart benefits -- resveratrol and flavonoids -- are also found in grape juice."

The muscadine grape has one of the highest antioxidant scores of any fruit. It is one of nature's best sources of resveratrol, the compound that is so heart-healthy in red wine. Studies on resveratrol have linked it to a healthy heart and blood vessels.

4 signs that you’re becoming frail — and how one vitamin can keep you strong

Fortunately, there's one vitamin that could stop the progression. And it's easy to become deficient in this vitamin, especially as you age.

The vitamin is none other than vitamin B12. A new study says elderly women with low B12 have a much higher risk of being "frail" than those with plenty of B12 activity.

The cross-sectional study followed 703 elderly women between the ages of 70 and 79 years. The researchers measured their levels of methylmalonic acid (MMA) to determine their vitamin B12 levels. MMA is a marker of vitamin B12 deficiency. If MMA is high, vitamin B12 action is low. (Your doctor can test for this marker with a normal blood test.)

Those participants with increasing serum levels of MMA had 40-60% greater odds of being "pre-frail" and a 1.66-2.33 times greater odds of being frail.

And now for for some information about  Hydrogen Peroxide.  Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) is a very useful chemical.  Most people do not know or understand the benefits of this very versatile substance. When it comes to hydrogen peroxide therapy there seems to be only two points of view. Supporters consider it one of the greatest healing miracles of all time. Those opposed feel its ingestion is exceptionally dangerous, and only the foolhardy could think of engaging in such behavior. Before either condemning or endorsing hydrogen peroxide, let's take a real close look at what we're dealing with.

If any substance is interesting, it's hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide should really be called hydrogen dioxide. Its chemical formula is H2O2. It contains one more atom of oxygen that does water (H20). By now everyone's aware of the ozone layer that surrounds the earth. Ozone consists of three atoms of oxygen (03). This protective layer of ozone is created when ultraviolet light from the sun splits an atmospheric oxygen molecule (02) into two single, unstable oxygen atoms. These single molecules combine with others to form ozone (03). Ozone isn't very stable. In fact, it will quickly give up that extra atom of oxygen to falling rainwater to form hydrogen peroxide (H₂0₂). (Bear with me: all this chemistry mumbo jumbo I'm going through actually will help you understand the importance of hydrogen peroxide.) It is this hydrogen peroxide in rainwater that makes it so much more effective than tap water when given to plants. With the increased levels of atmospheric pollution, however, greater amounts of H202 react with air-borne toxins and never reach the ground. To compensate for this, many farmers have been increasing crop yields by spraying them with diluted hydrogen peroxide (5 to 16 ounces of 35% mixed with 20 gallons of water per acre). You can achieve the same beneficial effect with your house plants by adding 1 ounce of 3% hydrogen peroxide (or 16 drops of 35% solution) to every quart of water you give your plants. (It can also be made into an excellent safe insecticide. Simply spray your plants with 8 ounces of 3% peroxide mixed with 8 ounces of white sugar and one gallon of water.)It is also useful for getting rid of lawn moths, which seem to come up out of nowhere and buzz around your face,when walking or playing on your lawn.  Use the same proportions as above for your plants and spray over your lawn.

Earlier we mentioned it's similarity to Ozone, (O₃), which is found in nature and it too, has an extra Oxygen which, as I said is quite unstable. I know some folks who are as ignorant about Ozone as they are about Hydrogen Peroxide.  What would happen if you took a diluted solution of Hydrogen peroxide and sprayed it in a room?  It would float in the air and land on all of your counter tops, destroying any bacteria of viruses there. Pretty neat, huh? But what if you do this a different way, suppose you had little black box which generated Ozone, had a small fan blew that Ozone  in small concentration out over that room continuously.  How would that work.  Well, it, like the Hydrogen peroxide above it would disperse in the air and land on the surfaces, killing all the bacteria, viruses, other bugs found there and would also jump on any of these floating in the air. Think that would be kind of cool also?

Now, getting back to Hydrogen Peroxide, there has been a number of controversial uses for Hydrogen Peroxide, one of them being the use as an oral rinse.  It has been shown that using the 3% variety in a 50/50 mix with water can reduce the number or germs in the mouth.  Actually, I do this myself, or rather a slightly different version; instead of water; I use a mouth wash.  Do this and you will notice that when you go to the dentist, there will be fewer dental carries (decays) found.  So if you seeing your dentist at least twice a year, if for no other reason than to clean your teeth and remove that nasty plaque from around the gumline,  which harbor disease laden germs causing decays and  and gum disease  and floss at least once a day, you are well on the road to greater dental health.
